SW Washington fishing report

SW Washington - Dark coho dominate the catches on most SW Washington streams but early arriving steelhead should begin to make a showing in the coming week with the Cowlitz a top option later this month. The Cowlitz is known for its large, early run fish and it likely won't disappoint this season.

Hatchery winter steelhead have returned to the Kalama and Lewis River facilities with the peak just a few weeks away.

The mouth of the Klickitat is still booting out good numbers of quality coho and that should continue through the end of this month. Males are the better choice for quality tablefare.

SW Washington fihsing report

SW Washington - Coho catches remain fair on the Cowlitz with a few bright fish still available. The Lewis and Kalama Rivers also have coho but the majority are running dark.

Winter steelhead have begun to return to the Cowlitz River, a good indication that this years return may be good.

The Klickitat River remains a strong option for bright coho with fish likely to be caught through the Thanksgiving weekend.

Fishing report for SW Washington

SW Washington - Barrier Dam on the Cowlitz has been producing nice coho catches but the quality of fish is degrading. Winter steelhead should show soon and if they follow returns of coho like they normally do, it should be a good season.

A few coho are still being caught on the Lewis and Kalama Rivers but effort is waning.

The mouth of the Klickitat is producing good catches of coho for both bank and boat anglers. This fishery should stay strong for the next few weeks.
