SW Washington fishing update

SW Washington- Coho catches continue to taper in the district but the Cowlitz remains the strong option for late season anglers. Early winter steelhead are likely to show soon too. The early run however, is not what it used to be.

The Lewis remains a fair option for late season (fresh) chinook for those in the know on how to pursue these fish. Their numbers can be quite impressive this time of year but you have to know how to pursue them.

Klickitat anglers still have access to fair numbers of coho but action has tapered from previous weeks. Fishable numbers are still available however.

SW Washington fishing update

SW Washington- Cowlitz River coho fishing is starting to slow and fish are turning color. Coho returns to this facility are the highest on record, dating back to 1969. Nearly 80,000 coho have returned. Winter steelhead are starting to show as well and anglers are hopeful that winter steelhead follow suit with large coho returns.

The Lewis is starting to slow for coho but chinook remain available into December.

The Klickitat is also starting to slow but still remains a strong option for coho this week. Action should taper dramatically by early December.

SW Washington fishing

SW Washington- Action for coho is finally slowing on most district streams. The Cowlitz and Lewis remain the best options. Anglers are still averaging nearly a fish per rod so prospects remain strong in these fisheries. The Lewis also remains a good late season option for bright Chinook.

Both boaters and bank anglers continue to catch the heck out of coho at the mouth of the Klickitat River. Jig and bait fishers often have no problem catching their limits of fish. This fishery will likely last into early December.

SW Washington fishing update

SW Washington- The Cowlitz continues to put out impressive numbers of coho salmon for both bank and boat anglers. Drifted eggs and spinners are taking fish on a regular basis but the quality of fish should begin to degrade in the coming week.

The Kalama and Lewis witnessed a good rise this week but should fall back into shape quickly. Action on both systems but particularly the Lewis, should remain impressive.

Klickitat anglers continue to put the hurt on coho near the mouth. Fish are readily taking jigs but eggs have proven effective as well. This fishery should hold up for a while longer given the downstream dam counts.
