SW Washington fishing update

SW Washington- Much remains quiet for anglers looking for fresh-run chinook and coho in district streams. Summer steelhead remains the best option on the Cowlitz but chinook should start to show on most district rivers in the coming weeks. Coho are likely to follow later into October.

Drano Lake steelheaders continue to do well for mostly wild fish. Chinook catches should be improving in the coming weeks.

SW Washington fishing update

SW Washington- Cowlitz River anglers are still catching some summer steelhead but most district anglers are awaiting what will likely be a large return of hatchery coho. Chinook are available in the Kalama although we're still weeks away from peak fishing.

Drano Lake and Wind River trollers are taking large numbers of steelhead although the vast majority of fish are wild. Chinook catches on Drano Lake are improving but will likely peak in early to mid-September.

SW Washington fishing report

SW Washington- Cowlitz River steelheaders are still struggling for consistent returns of summer steelhead but action should be picking up for chinook, if the run actually materializes this fall.

Wild steelhead will continue to make up the bulk of the recreational catch in the Wind River fishery for just another few weeks.

High temperatures still have the Klickitat River producing poorly with no relief in sight; turbid waters from glacial siltation is to blame.

SW Washington fishing report

SW Washington- District anglers remain largely focused on summer steelhead on the lower Columbia Beaches downstream of Vancouver. Catches are slowing but it remains one of the best options for bank anglers in the area.

Cowlitz steelheaders continue to take fair catches but interest will soon shift to salmon.

Drano Lake is producing good catches of steelhead although the majority of them are wild. That will likely continue to be the case.

Due to warm weather, the Klickitat River remains turbid, quelling steelhead success.
