SW Washington fishing update

SW Washington- The Cowlitz remains the bright spot in the district with catch rates nearing 2 fish per person, including fish released over the last week.

The Kalama and Lewis Rivers are also giving up impressive numbers of coho and chinook remain an option in the Lewis as well.

Drano Lake interest is waning but anglers working the mouth of the Klickitat are still producing good numbers of coho and action likely to remain strong if you go by dam counts.

SW Washington fishing update

SW Washington- The Cowlitz traditionally out-shines most other Columbia River tributaries and great numbers of coho and some chinook are being taken from the system. Bank anglers were averaging a ½ of coho per rod, which is about as good as it gets for this fishery. Boat anglers were tallying 1½ fish per rod.

The Kalama and Lewis systems are also producing good coho catches and the Lewis has some fresh chinook available too.

Drano Lake is producing about a coho per rod and should continue for another few weeks at this pace. Further upstream, the mouth of the Klickitat is producing great for coho and some chinook.

SW Washington fishing update

SW Washington- The Cowlitz is producing very well for coho anglers and with the recent rains, good action should continue for these late run fish. The Lewis is also an option with some coho and sea-run cutthroat trout an option as well. Both of these systems should be peaking for the next 2 weeks.

The Klickitat fishery is beginning to pick up more momentum as coho numbers continue to impress passing downstream facilities. Plug trollers working these impoundments are also taking a few quality steelhead.

SW Washington fishing update

SW Washington- The Cowlitz is a good option for chinook and coho anglers, especially downstream of the mouth of the Toutle River. Some cutthroat and summer steelhead are also available.

The Kalama and Lewis are improving for coho and should only get better as October rolls on.

Drano Lake and the Klickitat River mouth are fair to good for chinook; coho should start to show in good numbers by mid-month.
