SW Washington fishing update

SW Washington- Most district streams are producing fair catches of fall chinook and coho are starting to show in good numbers. The Cowlitz remains the best bet but the Lewis is a good second choice. Coho numbers should improve in the coming weeks here.

Drano Lake remains a good option for fall chinook and summer steelhead. Some coho are also being taken.

The Klickitat mouth is starting to produce good catches of chinook with coho likely to follow. Bobbers and eggs often produce the best results but jigs can also take coho with good success.

SW Washington fishing update

SW Washington- Chinook are available in many SW Washington tributaries but regulations vary by watershed. Coho are starting to show as well but the big push will happen later this month and well into November.

Cowlitz action for steelhead remains an option but anglers will begin putting most of their energy into salmon fishing for the next several weeks.

Boaters and bank anglers are working Drano Lake and Wind River pretty hard right now. Chinook and steelhead should both be available but coho are on their way where anglers are likely to intercept them in good numbers at the mouth of the Klickitat in the coming weeks.

SW Washington Fishing Update

SW Washington- Chinook action is picking up but anglers have to pay attention to regulations for the body of water that they're fishing in. It will be a while before coho action picks up as these SW Washington tributaries typically get the bulk of the “B” run coho that come back in late September and early October.

Drano Lake is starting to produce good catches of chinook and the Wind River should pick up as well. Summer steelhead are still available but the bulk of the catch is wild.

SW Washington fishing update

SW Washington- The Cowlitz continues to produce summer steelhead but fall chinook catches are improving. Coho should start to show in the upcoming weeks but chinook numbers should increase in the coming days.

Drano Lake trollers are still taking good numbers of steelhead but the vast majority of fish are wild, requiring release. Fall chinook should become much more readily available with dam passage increasing dramatically.

The Wind River fishery is also producing good steelhead catches and chinook should become a strong option by the weekend.

Crane Prairie has been producing good numbers of large trout to those drifting leaches.
